Abstract

The cultivation of lettuce floating system peat swamps with different media compositions given with urea has never been studied. The aim of this study was to determine the interaction between medium composition and the dose of urea which produces best lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.) growth and yield on peat swamp floating cultivation. The research used 4×4 factorial in completely randomized design with two factors. First factor was type of medium composition consists of four levels, 70% peat:5% Inceptisol:20% chicken manure fertilizer:5% OPEFB ash; 60% peat:15% Inceptisol:20% chicken manure fertilizer:5% OPEFB ash; 50% peat:25% Inceptisol:20% chicken manure fertilizer:5% OPEFB ash); 40% peat:35% Inceptisol:20% chicken manure fertilizer:5% OPEFB ash. The second factor was urea dose consists of fout levels, without urea), 2 g per polybag; 4 g per polybag, 6 g per polybag. The results showed that the interaction between the medium composition and the dose of urea had an effect on the yield of lettuce. The composition of 50% peat:25% Inceptisol:20% chicken manure fertilizer:5% OPEFB ash medium produced the best lettuce growth when fertilized with a dose of 2 g per polybag urea.

Abstract

This study aims to find appropriate media formulations for plant propagation of potato in vitro. Research conducted at the Tissue Culture Laboratory of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Tridinanti Palembang, beginning July 2015 until October 2015.The research design used is Completely Randomized  Design (CRD) arranged in factorial, with 9 (nine) combined treatment and five (5) replications ie: N1A1 = 0.5 ppm NAA + 100 ml/l coconut water, N1A2 = 0.5 ppm NAA + 150 ml/l coconut water, N1A3 = 0.5 ppm NAA + 200 ml/l coconut water, N2A1 = 1 ppm NAA + 100 ml/L coconut water, N2A2 = 1 ppm NAA + 150 ml/l coconut water, N2A3 = 1 ppm NAA + 200 ml/l coconut water, N3A1 = 1.5 ppm NAA +100 ml/l coconut water, N3A2 = 1.5 ppm NAA + 150 ml/l coconut water, and N3A3 = 1.5 ppm NAA + 200 ml/l coconut water. The observation parameter are the time to established buds, shoots high, the time to established roots, number of roots, root length, and the percentage of plantlets life.The results showed that treatment of NAA at a concentration of 1 ppm affected significant on the root length 7.74 cm. Coconut water at a concentration of 100 ml/l significantly affected the established of root ie 9.97 days after planting (dap) and 200 ml/l of coconut water has a significant effect on shoot height 10.27 cm. There was no significant interaction between NAA and coconut water in almost of all parameters were observed, except on the parameter of established roots. NAA at a concentration of 1.5 ppm and 200 ml/l of coconut water has a significant interaction for paremeter time to established roots ie 7.00 dap.

Abstract

Pod Borer (Etiella zinckenella) is a major pest in soybean cultivation. The chemical pesticides used in agriculture are causing various detrimental effects on our health as well as on environment. Botanical pesticides such as betel nut (Areca catechu L.) is an alternative pest control to reduce the use of synthetic chemical pesticides. This research was conducted in the plant pest laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, Riau University. This study was conducted in order to found a concentration of betel nut seed extract (Areca catechu L.) which is effective to control E. zinckenella in soybean crops. The experiment using a completely randomized design with six treatments. Betel nut seed extract concentration are 0 g L-1 of water, 20 g L-1 of water, 40 g L-1 of water, 60 g L-1 of water, 80 g L-1 of water, and 100 g L-1 of water and each treatment was repeated four times. The result showed 40 g L-1 of water of betel nut seed extract is effective concentration and able to kill 80% E. zinckenella larvae.

Abstract

Dendrobium is the epiphytic orchid and high demand because of its long-lasting freshness, color variants, shape, and high productivity. The addition of organic complex Coconut Water (CW) to the in vitro media such as MS and VW because in general organic complex compounds are sources of sugars, vitamins, growth regulators, and amino acids. The purpose of this study was to obtain the best media for plantlet regeneration from PLBs of Dendrobium orchids var. JTWO and var. Kumala Agrihorti. This study used a Completely Randomized Design consisting of two factors with five replications. The combination of  planting media with the addition of coconut water was consist of 10 levels, ½ MS+0 ml/l CW, ½ MS+75 ml/l CW, ½ MS+100 ml/l CW, ½ MS+125 ml/l CW, ½ MS+150 ml/l CW, VW+0 ml/l CW, VW+75 ml/l CW, VW+100 ml/l CW, VW+125 ml/l CW and VW+150 ml/l CW. The results showed that the variety treatment gave a significant effect on the percentage of PLBs regeneration, the number of shoots, and the increase in plantlet height. The treatment of media gave a significant effect on the percentage of PLBs regeneration, percentage of PLBs life, the number of leaves, and the number of roots. The interaction between treatments significantly affects the percentage of PLBs regeneration.

Abstract

This research was aimed to know effect of Physiological Character Response of Soybean Plants (Glycine max L.) on Waterlogging and Nitrogen Fertilizer. This research has been conducted from November 2019 until January 2020 at Green House Faculty of Agriculture, Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa University, Serang, Banten. This research used a Randomized Block Design with two factors, the first factor was waterlogging of four levels: 100% Soil Water Available (SWA), 125% SWA, 150% SWA, 175% SWA. The second factor was nitrogen fertilizer of three levels: 0 kg ha-1), 25 kg ha-1), 50 kg ha-1 with three replication. The results showed that treatment of waterlogging affects the number of soybean plant leaves at five Weeks After Planting (WAP). The number of leaves in the waterlogging treatment is 175% less compared to the waterlogging of 100% SWA, 125% SWA, and 150% SWA. Nitrogen treatment affects the stomata length of soybean crops. Nitrogen fertilizer doses of 50 kg ha-1 have a lower stomata length compared to doses of 0 kg ha-1 and 25 kg ha-1. There is interaction in the treatment of waterlogging and nitrogen fertilizers at a plant height of 2 WAP.

Abstract

Sugar palm is a commodity that has the potential to be developed. Sugar palm is developed to produce various products and raw materials for derivative products. Currently, there is a lot of morphological diversity of sugar palm plants found in the field. Presently, identification of various types of sugar palm morphologically in Banten Province is still limited. Sugar palm in Banten Province is found in various locations, such as in Lebak. This study aimed to determine the characteristics of Aren seedlings originating from Lebak Regency. The hypothesis in this study is that there are several characteristics of palm seedlings originating from Lebak Regency. This research was conducted in August 2019 - November 2019 located in Green House, Cinanggung Village, Serang City, Banten Province. This study uses a descriptive method, through a quantitative approach with data analysis and interpretation, and conclusion. The observation parameters in this study were: Plant Height (cm); Number of leaves per plant (strands); Leaf width (cm); Leaf length (cm); stem diameter (cm); Leaf color. The results showed that Aren from Lebak Regency aged 1 year have an average plant height of 28.1 cm, a pinnate leaf shape and a thick like a palm leaf, with an average number of 1 leaves, an average leaf length of 16.4 cm, and an average leaf width of 6.8 cm, with dark green leaf color. The stem diameter has a strength correlation with plant growth level like as plant height, the higher the plant. The greater the stem diameter obtained in this study is 2.19 cm.

Abstract

 The research was aimed to know the response of viability and vegetative growth of three shallots varieties (Allium ascalonicum L.) from seeds TSS (True Shallot Seed) on combination treatment of plant media. This research was conducted at the Screen House of Center for Protection of Food Crops, horticulture and plantations Serang Province of Banten from September until November 2020. The research used a Randomized Completely Design consisted of two factors. The first factor was the varieties, consisted of three levels were varieties Bima Brebes, Lokananta and Sanren. The second factor was the combination of plant media, consisted of three levels were (soil + compost cow manure), (soil + husk charcoal) and (soil + compost cow manure + husk charcoal). The result showed that varieties Lokananta affected the parameters day of germination (4.56 day), maximum growth potential (87.33%), power germination (87.78%), growth rate (5.78%/day) and percentage normal sprouts (80.89%), height of plant at 14, 21, 28, 35 and 42 DAP (Day After Planting) and number of leaves at 14, 21, 28, 35 and 42 DAP. Combination of plant media soil + husk charcoal gave the best effect on the parameters day of germination (4.67 day), maximum growth potential (88.00%), power germination (88.44%), growth rate (5.76%/day) and percentage normal sprouts (80.67%), height of plant at 14, 21, 28, 35 and 42 DAP and number of leaves at 14, 21, 28, 35 and 42 DAP. There was no interaction between varieties and combination of plant media except for the day of germination parameter.

Abstract

Aplikasi pupuk hayati cair berbasis Azolla merupakan suplemen pemupukan pada tanaman sayuran yang memanfaatkan potensi alam di sekitar lahan pertanian. Berbagai penelitian mengungkapkan konsentrasi aplikasi pupuk hayati cair beragam sehingga untuk efisiensi penggunaan pupuk hayati cair perlu dicari konsentrasi yang tepat.  Tujuan penelitian ini adalah menganalisis respon tanaman pakcoy melalui pemberian konsentrasi pupuk hayati yang berbeda terhadap peningkatan pertumbuhan dan hasil tanaman pakcoy. Penelitian ini menggunakan 7 perlakuan dengan 6 ulangan yang disusun berdasarkan rancangan acak kelompok (RAK). Perlakuan percobaan terdiri atas  : tanpa pemberian pupuk hayati (K0), 5 ml/L pupuk hayati (K1), 10 ml/L pupuk hayati (K2), 15 ml/L pupuk hayati (K3), 20 ml/L pupuk hayati (K4), 25 ml/L pupuk hayati (K5), 30 ml/L pupuk hayati (K6). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa konsentrasi pupuk hayati mulai dari 5 sampai 30 mL/L dapat meningkatkan tinggi tanaman, jumlah daun, lebar daun, panjang daun, dan luas daun serta bobot basah tanaman pakcoy dibandingkan tanpa pemberian pupuk hayati. Konsentrasi pupuk hayati 10 mL/L menghasilkan jumlah daun pakcoy yang lebih tinggi dibandingkan kontrol akan tetapi tidak berbeda dibandingkan dengan bobot basah tanaman pakcoy pada setiap konsentrasi pupuk hayati yang diberikan. Pemberian pupuk hayati dengan konsentrasi 10 ml/L meningkatkan bobot basah tanaman pakcoy dua kali lipat atau 100,74 % dibandingkan kontrol. Pupuk hayati cair berbasis azolla dapat digunakan sebagai nutrisi tambahan disamping pupuk NPK untuk meningkatkan pertumbuhan dan hasil tanaman pakcoy.

Abstract

This research aims to study and determine the technique of breaking the dormancy of Jatropha seeds by giving gibberellins (GA3) and various planting positions on the growth of Jatropha seeds in the nursery. The research was carried out from June-August 2020. The experimental design used was a simple randomized block design with a combination of GA3 concentrations and seed positions with 18 treatment combinations. Each was repeated two times. The results showed that giving gibberellin concentration at different planting positions did not have an effect on germination parameters, but it did affect growth parameters. All concentrations of GA3 had no effect on seed germination, seed growth rate and vigor index, but the concentration of 500 mg L-1 at various planting positions had a better effect on plant height, number of leaves, stem diameter, fresh weight and plant dry weight Jatropha in the nursery.

Abstract

Lebak is a district in Banten province known as one of center for ginger cultivations. The study aimed to determine the diversity of local ginger plants in Lebak-Banten Regency based on morphological characters, so that kinship relationships between commodities can be seen. The study was conducted from Agustus to October 2021. This study used qualitative and quantitative descriptive methods, consisting of 7 accessions with a total sample of 21 plants from the districts in Lebak Regency as Panggarangan, Malingping, Banjarsari and Gunung Kencana. The data was processed using SPSS. Based on the results, there were 7 similar qualitative characters and 3 different qualitative characters. While there were 8 board quantitative characters (various) and 1 narrow quantitative character (uniform), the closest kinship relationship is found in accessions (B3 and E1) with a coefficient value of 1.576 and the furthest kinship in accessions (A1 and D3) wit a coefficient value of 51.024. The results of the dendogram showed that on a scale of 5 formed 14 groups, on a scale of 10 formed 7 groups, a scale of 15 formed 4 groups, a scale of 20 formed 3 group and a scale of 25 formed 2 group. Therefore, further research is needed to determine the relationship of the local ginger based on molecular analysis.
